Bengaluru Gayana Samaja is one of Bengaluru’s most respected cultural venues, carrying a rich legacy since 1905. Its auditorium combines heritage charm with modern comforts, making it a fitting space for Carnatic music, dance, and other classical performances. The acoustics and seating create an enjoyable experience, and the atmosphere feels deeply tied to the city’s artistic tradition. It is especially appealing for anyone who values authentic South Indian culture and intimate live performance settings. Comfortable seating and good AC but you may face difficulty finding drinking water, would recommend taking own bottles.

With all due respect, I think it is time to upgrade this venue. There's nothing wrong with having old-world charm aesthetic, but when functionality starts feeling outdated and inadequate, maybe it is time to renovate. My husband and I attended the Eka Violin concert recently, and I found that the toilets were more like railway station toilets - no soap, just one wash basin, no hooks on the toilet doors to hang dupatta or handbags. The toilets themselves weren't in top condition either. For venues that receive such a large footfall, I wonder how everyone's managing, especially with aged guests commonly attending traditional events. The seats are not lean back at all. And they are missing individual numbering, making everyone count and re-count to avoid confusion. The leg space isn't enough to let other guests pass comfortably. The refreshments facility is also make-shift. Yes, the food is fresh and hot, but it still feels like a roadside stall with the gas cylinder right in front of you. The prices are a bit high, and the variety is very limited. And the drinking water machine is dysfunctional, the wash basin dusty. Even the foyer feels crowded with heavy furniture, not leaving enough space for guests to wait till the event starts. And the photos of previous presidents lining the walls is honestly cringe now. Look at Medai and Jagriti theatre as examples, giving prominence to artists' portraits and posters than to those running the place. I think the mindset needs a revamp first. The world is no longer living in the 80s and 90s. Overall, the venue gave me the feel that it is run on limited funds, or by trustees who want to avoid a renovation till the very end if they can. Not an air of luxury and sophistication that is expected when prestigious cultural events are hosted here.

A place of legacy and of legends for over a 120 years. A musician's paradise. Great hall, great acoustics, great lighting and great legacy. Parking is however a problem.

Good auditorium with nice indoor environment. Ac is functional but takes more time to cool if you are seated in the balcony. Parking is not quite big I guess for bikes it would be a big problem but for car it is though would suggest reach early to park if you have a car. Audio quality is good and crisp. Seats don't recline though

The auditorium is really good, calm peaceful ambience. Today we are here for the Abhivyanjana 2025 . The Harmonica concert arranged by Mitra Can are Foundation, a noble organization supporting cancer patients, lead by Mr. Amar Bhaskar, our beloved IBMer.
